When we take part in an online class, where are our bodies? Our physical bodies are positioned in front of our computers, but our virtual bodies can be anywhere imagined. We indeed use this separation between the physical and virtual body when we talk on the telephone. I would disagree with Dreyfus that this split makes us anonymous, because in the online class our responses are always posted with our names attached. J
But the fact that we have no physical presence, Dreyfus argues, means that any learning that occurs can only be intellectual, not practical. In other words, it is more on a theoretical level than involving a grasping and mastery of particular skills. He thinks that true learning can only take place from physically being somewhere and doing a particular activity, and it is only under these conditions that information becomes relevant and people come to meaningfully understand reality. But if this is true, how can anyone learn anything from a book, newspaper, television, radio, a letter, or e-mail? وقتی در کلاس آنلاین شرکت می کنیم جسم ما کجاست؟ جسم فیزیکی ما روبروی رایانه قرار دارد اما جسم مجازی ما شاید هر جایی باشد. ما بی شک پشت تلفن هم از این تمایز بین جسم فیزیکی و مجازی استفاده می کنیم. من با Dreyfus مخالفم که این جدا بودن ما را ناشناس میسازد چون همیشه پاسخ های ما در کلاس آنلاین به همراه اسم ماست. Dreyfus معتقد است که عدم حضور فیزیکی ما به معنی این است که یادگیری ما ذهنی خواهد بود و نه کاربردی و عملی. به زبان ساده تر این امر بیشتر در سطوح تئوری انجام می گیرد و با کسب مهارت خاصی همراه نیست. وی فکر می کند که حضور فیزیکی و انجام فعالیت خاصي لازمه یادگیری واقعی است و تنها در چنین شرایطی اطلاعات معنادار خواهند بود و افراد به درک معنادار واقعیت می پردازند. اما اگر این حقیقت دارد پس افراد چگونه به وسيله كتاب، روزنامه، تلویزیون، رادیو، نامه یا ایمیل دانش کسب می کنند؛ آیا اهمیت انتقال محتوا از روش انتقال آن بیشتر نیست؟
